Timberdoodle for Newbies
First of all—welcome! If you're just starting your homeschool journey, we're thrilled to cheer you on and help you every step of the way. Here are some questions you might have as you get started.
How Do I Enroll?
Good news: You don't enroll with Timberdoodle because we're not a school—we're your curriculum sidekick!
Many families homeschool independently, while others register with umbrella schools or charter programs.
Not sure what your state requires? The Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) has great state-by-state info!
What Should I Order?
You have two options:
- Grab a complete curriculum kit by grade level or
- Pick and choose individual items if you prefer to build your own.
Not sure which grade to start with?
No worries—we offer free placement tests to find your child's perfect fit!
Need tweaks? Our kits are super customizable, and you'll also receive a parent handbook and access to our online scheduler.
When Should We Start?
Whenever you want!
As an independent homeschooler, you get to set your own start date.
(Just a tip: Order 3–5 weeks before you plan to begin, especially during the busy summer rush.)
What If We Only Homeschool for One Year?
No problem.
If you plan to return to a traditional school later, check with them first. Some schools might want:
- A placement test
- A list of what you covered
- Or something else
A quick phone call now can save a headache later!
What About Grades or Report Cards?
Since Timberdoodle is a curriculum provider (not a school), we don't issue grades, transcripts, or certificates.
You are the teacher and administrator—which sounds scary but isn't!
Bottom line is that you've got this, and we're here to make it fun, doable, and a whole lot less stressful.
