Why Learning Styles Matter

(and How to Make the Most of Them!)

Want to be a rockstar homeschool teacher?

One big secret is understanding how you learn... and how your kids learn, too!

Knowing your child’s learning style is like getting the cheat codes to their brain. It’ll make teaching smoother, easier, and way more fun. Plus, choosing the right curriculum becomes simpler when you know what lights them up.

Psst... your learning style sneaks into how you teach, too!

With a bit of thought (and maybe a little chocolate ), you can tweak your methods to better match each kiddo’s style.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

Visual Learners (Seeing is Believing!)

These kiddos soak up info through their eyes. They love pictures, diagrams, and bright, colorful charts. Bonus: They were the babies who calmed down just by watching the mobile spin!

Auditory Learners (Talk It Out!)

Sound is their superpower! They learn best through listening, singing, and chatting. (Yep, these babies settled the second you started humming.)

Kinesthetic Learners (Gotta Move It, Move It!)

Hands-on is the way to go. These busy bees need to touch, build, move, and DO. They were the rock-and-roll babies who needed to be constantly bounced, rocked and carried.

You can find quick learning style assessments online if your memory of their baby days is a little fuzzy.

Heads-up:

Most traditional curricula are built for visual learners and can usually be tweaked a little for auditory learners. Kinesthetic learners? They’re a rarer breed, but trust us—finding programs that let them build, move, and explore is so worth it!

And one last thing:

Nobody fits perfectly into one little box (and honestly, who wants to?). Your child might be a mix of styles, and that’s awesome!

Timberdoodle kits pack in a wide variety of activities—visual, auditory, kinesthetic—so every child can stretch and strengthen their learning muscles.

Learning to learn in lots of different ways?

That’s the real secret sauce for lifelong learners!
