Little Match
A game that preschoolers can play is a rare find, and one that involves more than chance is rarer still. But Little Match meets both of these requirements and more. A card depicting a colorful kitten, owl, bunny, or butterfly is placed in the center of the table. Each young player searches their cards for a matching color or animal. If they have a match, they put it on top. No matches? They draw from the deck and play moves to the next person.
Little Match is easy for new participants to learn and is a favorite preschool game for our family. Not only does Little Match practice color-matching, attention, and sorting, but it also rehearses the vital skills of winning, losing, and taking turns. Little Match cultivates family interaction for ages 2.5 and older.
